Recreational Gymnastics
This discipline is where most gymnasts will gain their first experience of the sport. Participation is for those who enjoy gymnastics, but, either do not wish to compete or only wish to compete at the lower levels. Most of our members come only once per week, and only for an hour. There is the annual Hawth Championships for these gymnasts.
Children will firstly be placed in classes according to their age. Then each child will be moved within their class according to ability. As they progress they may be moved to a different time slot; often gymnasts will remain in the same group as they all develop together. Our recreational classes cater for children ages 4 - 12. In the term that a child turns 13 will be their last term with us. Gymnast who stay with us until they are 13 will be offered a space in our Teen Club (or on the waiting list for it)
Our coaches are always on the look out for talented children. If your child shows potential they will be given the opportunity to trial for one of our squads.
Groups
Recreational Classes (4 years old to 12 years old)
These classes run for 55mins per week, during term time only. Your child will experience gymnastics in a fun, non-competitive way concentrating on basic gymnastic skills and techniques. There will be at least one competition a year for any gymnasts wishing to show off their skills but this is not compulsory.
Teen Club (Tuesday 8pm - 9:15pm)
A group of young teenagers, boys and girls who use this group top build on the skills they have gained in our recreational programme. It is an invite only class for existing recreational members who are 13 and older.
This group have the whole gym to themselves so all apparatus can be used.
The young teenagers will be encouraged to focus on skills they would like to achieve, with the coaches setting realistic goals.
The class runs during term time only, but its paid monthly through standing order spread over 12 months.
