Bracknell Micro Team Competition (Team)
8 July 2012
The National 3 & 2 Women’s team headed off to Bracknell on Sunday the 8th of July to compete in the Bracknell Open Micro Team Gym competition.
Starting the day off for Hawth was the National 3 team 1 Micro team consisting of our newest members to the National primary team category; Abby Jackson, Kitty May, Olivia Lonsdale and Olivia Rathborn. The girls competed very well for their first National competition and placed 5th out of 7 teams with a total score of 23.13 and only .67 away from 3rd place. Additionally the girls scored the highest tumble score with 12.50 which was joint with Hawth Team 2. This showed great promise for the girls and for the National 3 Team as a whole. Team 2; Harriet Paton, Chloe Webb, Jodie Stepney and Willow Hughes started the competition on Trampette and scored the 2nd highest score for that piece with 11.70. With the tumble score added the girls got an overall score of 24.20 and a well deserved 1st place.
Moving onto our National 2 micro teams Team 1 had a shaky start on Trampette but with the complexity of the skills being performed meant the high starting tariff allowed for a mistake or two. The girls scored 11.65 the 2nd highest Trampette score for their category, very promising considering the number of falls. Team 2 went next to compete on Trampette, and with a lower tariff score it was vital they stuck their landings and went as clean as possible. With only onne small error the girls scored a great 11.40. Moving onto the tumble apparatus, Team 1 again with a slightly higher starting tariff, scored 12.90. It was rather promising to see that the girls got the 2nd highest tumble score even with a few errors. Last up was Team 2 who again made minimal mistakes and scored a respectable 12.50. It was a great competition where gymnasts where able to compete some new skills and also for all gymnasts to gain some valuable competition experience.
Both coaches look forward to training with the girls over the summer where they hope to try out some new and exciting moves, ready for the South East Tournament on Saturday the 3rd of December.
