A Sucessful Weekend For Hawth (May 9th - 10th 2015)

We have been a very busy gymnastics club this weekend, with coaches and gymnasts spread all across the south of the country doing the club proud.

Firstly Jake and Kanisha (with coaches Kim and Amber) attended their first TeamGym Zonal Squad session at 1066 Gymnastics Academy in Hastings. They both work very hard all weekend, putting in over 15 hours of training in over the two days. Check out some of their new skills in this video.

At Piper's Vale Gymnastics Club in Ipswich our Men's Artistic gymnasts we're competing all weekend. First up were the Under 8 Boys who were competing for the first time outside of the club, they performed very well in a group of over 60 gymnasts  and finished in 23rd (Jasper), 46th (Alfie), 52nd (Harry), 58th (Oliver) and 59th (Zachary). In the Under 9 Challenge competition Hawth had just one competitor - James - he was again competing in a very large group and finished in 47th place with a total score of 63.50. View scores

Next up was the Under 10 Boys category, where 4 gymnasts from Hawth were competing. After a challenging competition (again there were over 70 gymnasts!) the boys finished in 10th (Reece), 18th (Linus), 37th (Frank) and 48th (Makai). Linus also pick up a bronze medal on vault with a score of 11.60 out of a maximum of 12.00. View scores

In the Under 12 Challenge, where 50 gymnasts were competing for the title, Hawth's two gymnasts Jake and Ciaran finished in 26th and 34th respectively. View Scores

On the Sunday it was time for he Under 12 Cup, which featured both a team and individual competition. Hawth's team of Anton, Adam, Micheal and Cody finished in 10th, 14th, 17th & 20th places individually (view scores) but had a fantastic result as a team where they finished in 1st place, winning a set of gold medals and a trophy. The final MA competition of the weekend was the Under 14 Cup event, Hawth had only two gymnasts, so not enough to make a team, but Tom (final score 70.45) and Harry (69.94) finished in 5th and 6th place individually. View scores

Well done to all out MA gymnasts and their coaches Tim, Richard & Josh.

On Sunday 10th May Hawth hosted a Level 5 & Level 6 (GfA) TeamGym competition for beginners and clubs who are new to the discipline. The event (run but Hawth's ever-dedicated group of coaches, young helpers and parent volunteers) received fantastic feedback from the visiting clubs and also helped to raise money for the installation of Hawth's new tumble track.

Hawth also had two teams take part in the competition, our Level 5 Micro Girls (the Hawth Hedgehogs), despite having to make a last minuet team member change, brought home a set of silver medals - missing out on the gold by just 0.02! The Hawth Tinys (Level 6 Mini Full Team) were the victors in their category, beating teams from Heathrow and Alton to win first place. View scores
