Frequently asked questions
Q: How old does my child have to be to join?
Our Youngest members are 6 months old in Fun4Baby Classes.
Q: How long do the classes last?
Pre School classes are 45 minutes. Recreational classes start at 1 hour with squad lessons lasting up to 4 hours. Hours may increase for our top level gymnasts.
Q: Do you have mixed classes?
Yes we do.
Q: Do you run Boys only? Girls only? Adult? Disability classes?
Yes. However, due to the size of the facility we will be able to run groups separately at the same time within the gym. Some groups may come together for specific parts of the session where a common activity is being coached.
Adult classes will tend to run later during the evening and are more likely to only share the gym with a small group of advanced gymnasts.
We will encourage integration of disabilities and have specific classes within the programme.
Q: How much are the classes and do you pay weekly or monthly?
Our classes are charged monthly see info and fees tab.
Q: How long has the club been running?
Since 1986.
Q: Is it a competing club only?
No. We encourage both non-competitive and competitive gymnasts to reach their individual potential.
Q: Do you have a uniform for beginners?
There is gym wear available to purchase designed by Hawth. Gymnasts are not required to purchase it. Appropriate clothing should be worn during training.
Q: What parking facilities can you offer to disabled members?
K2 has designated disabled parking spaces available to permit holders.
Q: Is there a membership fee and if so how often and how much is it?
Each gymnast has to affiliate to British Gymnastics annually with a year running from October. This is collected during September and we ask for cheques made payable to British Gymnastics so they are kept separate from all other payments.
Membership to Hawth Gymnastics is also an annual payment.
Please see the 'Fees' page for more information.
Q: Do I pay the leisure centre or the club and in what method?
All payments are made to "Hawth Gymnastics". We currently accept cash and cheques.
Q: Do you do one on one coaching?
No, although gymnasts may receive individual attention when the head coach deems it necessary
Q: How many coaches do you have and what qualifications do they have?
All of our coaches are BG qualified. Volunteer helpers working under our coaches are used within the gym. This gives them valuable experience prior to them qualifying.
Q: Do you have a qualified first aider?
All of our coaches attend basic first aid courses.
Q: What is the success level of the club?
We have had county champions in Tumbling, Men's Artistic, Team Gym and Floor & Vault. We also compete at a national level in Tumbling, Team Gym and Men's Artistic. Hawth gymnasts often medal in all of these disciplines at events accross the country, including national Championships.
